The Iron Ring Project er et kunstnerisk forsøk på å styrke forholdet mellom smykkers symbolske verdi og dets økologiske regnskap. Dersom ”bærekraftighet" er nøkkelen til smykkers symbolske?verdi, så hvordan materialisere den ultimate ring?
Prosjektet søker paralleller knyttet til gruvedrift, en rensende re- vegetasjons metode og ugresset The Red Barons (I. Cylindrica) unike evne til å utvinne og lagre grunnstoffet jern. Gjennom prosjektet ønsker Jonsson å utveksle formelle og formale aspekter knyttet til produksjon av jern og har før prosessen invitert til tverrfaglig samarbeid mellom lokale smeder, vitenskapelige forskere, bønder og teknikere.
Til utstillingen på Tag Team understreker Jonsson denne prosessen gjennom en installasjon i tag teams lokaler i Møllendalsveien. Arbeidet er en narrativ materialisering i forsøk, feil og triumfer hvor hvert element undersøker den formale og poetiske resonansen i å transformere 24 kg gress til en 2 grams jernring.

Hypothesis of a geo-magnetic pull: The Iron Ring Project
The Iron Ring Project is an artistic proposal to strengthen the relation between jewellery’s symbolic value and its ecological cost. If 'greenness' would be key to jewellery’s symbolic ?value, then what would materialize the ultimate ring?
The project seeks parallels and contradictions related to mining and a cleansing re-vegetation method used in natural sciences. Involving The Red Baron, (I. cylindrica) a simple although specific weeds virtue to clean and extract iron. To exchange understanding and other informal aspects of formal knowledge on how iron actually is made. The artist has initiated to interdisciplinary collaboration. Local smiths, scientific researchers, farmers and material technicians forms the experts and non-experts. An initiative were research, craftsmanship, industrial processes and the natural environment meet in discourse by the relationship of art.
For the exhibition at Tag Team are Jonsson emphasizing the journey through an installation in Tag Teams premises in Møllendalsveien. By conflation of physical objects and a HD-video, projected with sound. A linear form presents the seven evolutional steps, which follows a narrative retelling to accompany the viewer through the elapsed process in trial and failure. Were each piece highlights to explore the formal and poetic resonant act of transforming a harvest of 24kg grass into a ring of 2g metallic iron.
